KEYNOTE: The Business Agility Behind Riot’s K/DA; the Fictional Band That Topped Real World Charts
How did a virtual band top the Billboard chart for World Digital Songs? Was it a coincidence? Was it a one-time wonder? Hopefully not!

It was an unexpected yet desired result of building the foundation of business agility, not to avoid disruption or adapt to external forces, but to operate in a universe where we place our players firmly in the center of our universe.

In this keynote, we will discuss the Copernican Revolution that informs our mindset for business agility and how we balance the interplay between top-down strategy and bottom-up ideas to delight our players. We will also describe the implementation of key components of business agility, including Leadership, Individuals, Operations and the core Relationships that enable or hinder business agility. We will also explain why business agility is a journey that relies on what we call “the grind” and learning through experimentation rather than a framework, model, or methodology. We hope to illustrate the power of a new mindset for business agility by sharing the outputs, the outcomes, and the journey we’ve experienced at Riot Games.

Develop Your Innovation Strategy
Despite the buzz, innovation remains a frustrating pursuit. Why is it so hard to build and maintain the capacity to innovate? The answer is complex, from attracting and retaining the right talent to balancing the existing business needs with new sources of growth and the investment that is required.
Not surprisingly, innovation strategies are not a one-size fits all. However, you may be surprised to learn that innovation is more about discipline than creativity.

Join this session to learn the first steps to create an innovation strategy that aligns diverse interests in an organization, clarifies objectives, and helps focus efforts and investments.

Using a workshop format, we will explore:
a) The difference between Disruptive Innovation and Sustaining Innovation
b) What we can do to encourage people to act more like entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs
c) A framework to develop an innovation strategy

KEYNOTE: "Reaching Agility: Why Aren't We Done Yet?"
Over the past 15 years, we have seen many new processes, frameworks, tools and coaches emerge to help companies achieve agility.  In spite of all of this new knowledge, many of us have been leading or participating in agile transformations for years and years.  Why is it taking so long?  Shouldn’t we have transformed yet?  Do we even know what “transformed” looks like and how to recognize it when we have it?
In this talk, Nicola looks at some of the underlying systemic issues that block companies from truly reaching their full potential and provides some ways to address them.

Coaching for Performance Management
"I enjoy giving critical feedback and I am confident it is received well."  Said no manager ever.

Gallup, a leader in management and employee engagement, reminds us that “Employees are more likely to learn and grow when they receive immediate feedback that is specific, targeted at their development and able to be put into practice right away.” We know this - but Why Is It So Hard to Do? Perhaps because the only time we give feedback we are already in a stressful or emotionally charged situation or perhaps we just don't get the training we need as managers to provide effective feedback.

This session will help participants at any level of management to develop skills to effectively deliver feedback and improve performance management. You should attend if you are interested in practicing how to:
• Improve feedback and dialogue skills
• Create behavior changes
• Build a high performance culture

Global Agility: How a Remote-Only Workforce Stays Agile
With remote-only employees in over 55 different countries that support a product that is used by more than 100,000 organizations, staying agile is key to keeping customers, contributors and employees happy.

How is this done? With transparency and iteration that drives collaboration, results, efficiency and diversity.  By being open about as many things as possible and making information public, an organization can reduce the threshold to contribution and make collaboration easier.

Transparency creates awareness, it gets more and faster feedback from people outside the company, and makes it easier to collaborate with them. It is also about sharing great software, documentation, examples, lessons, and processes with the world in the spirit of open source, which creates more value than it captures.  This is where “MVC” or “Minimum Viable Change” is so crucial as you should always look to make the quickest change possible to improve the outcome.

Coaching is the Product: Build Your Enterprise Agile Coaching Backlog
As a coach, our "product" is coaching and the impact it has on the performance of the Leaders and Teams we coach. Right? It is difficult to quantify value delivered and show progress for cultural change and benefit realization from agile adoption.

What would we coach our teams and leaders to do? Often, part of the value we can deliver as coaches is leaving a trail for what we have done, what we and our coaches have learned, and the impact of those actions, so that other coaches, scrum masters, and teams, can benefit.

During this workshop, we will guide you through a structure to provide transparency to your coaching work, build a template backlog and tie the work to the impact.

Is it too much process and tools over people and interactions? You be the judge, but we think of it as using tools and process to support the people and interactions.

KEYNOTE: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Results
I’ve had the extremely good fortune to be able to work with many of the very best technology product teams in the world. People creating the products you use and love every day.  Teams that are literally changing the world.

What I’ve learned is that there is a profound difference between how the very best product companies create technology products, and the rest. And I don’t mean minor differences. Everything from how the leaders behave, to the level of empowerment of teams, to what is meant by Agile, to how the organization thinks about funding, staffing and producing products, down to how product, design and engineering collaborate to discover effective solutions for their customers.

For those that have not yet had the opportunity to participate in, or observe a strong product team up close, in this talk I want to try to give you a glimpse into some of the important differences that distinguish the best product teams from the rest. This talk will discuss the critical traits and behaviors of many of our industry's best product teams.
